Woke up about eight and shouted to the egg, she was awake. We headed down for breakfast, two rounds of doorstop toast and a cup of tea and an orange juice, I felt like a king. I had a shower and Sarah said she was getting changed and actually got under her duvet and fell asleep again so I updated my diary and checked on the Forest website (we drew West Ham away in the forth round of the FA Cup (not a bad draw)). At eleven o'clock the cleaner came round to very noisily clean the room, one and two were still asleep until this point. We packed our bags said good bye to three (one + two = three) and headed to Nijo station where we caught the Shinkansen (bullet train) to shin-osaka, changing here for the local train to Kobe however when we got to Kobe the last train we had to get was to Motomatchi and this wasn't covered by our JR Pass so we had to pay four hundred Yen (only about one pound fifty) each, annoying as if we had got the local train from Kyoto we would have got straight there. Anyways no trouble all part of the traveler experience. We arrived and were hungry so went find a vendor, was one straight opposite the station, however, it was no vendor but it was too late to back out so we bravely went where no man had been before... to the counter, I pointed at mine with an air of confidence, Sarah did the same we paid and then he shouted across the whole restaurant our order on a microphone so they could get it ready, we sat down quickly. Two minutes later they brought it over, it was nice chicken (I think) and rice with a raw egg cracked in the middle. We then had a brief look around found a karaoke bar (as all my mates know I bloody love karaoke). We went in the hotel The Kobe Plaza, it was posh. We checked in and got to our room, it stank of fags and looked shabby, was supposed to be four star but I'd rather be back in the hostel. I said to Sarah it was nice and would be fine and to be fair it would have been but I went down to reception and asked for a non smoking room, they changed us no problems to room seven hundred and eight. This room was nice and smelt of... well nothing, but that's good! We had a proper shower and a good shave, well I had a shave. Felt like new very clean people (ting!) we then did some washing, hung it up absolutly everywhere to dry, I am talking on light shades door handles back of chairs, just anywhere. Then headed out. Kobe looked really nice and the China town looked amazing and really was alive. We then saw Port Tower on the seafront (would you believe). Across the port were lots of lovely looking restaurants we searched for one that sold 'Kobe Beef' which is a famous dish, we found them but it was very expensive so tomorrow we are going to treat ourselves. It started to get very cold so we headed back to the hotel. When we got back our room was boiling as we had cranked the heating up to dry the clothes. I went and grabbed a pot-noodle from a vending machine in a little room on our floor of the hotel. Skype'd my mother and mate Paul whilst shoveling down the pot-noodle. We had a radio which played across the room so we put that on and planned the activities for tomorrow. About ten o'clock we turned in for the night the room boiling to dry the clothes.

Sarah Japan was so cold - we loved the warm hotels! I remember feeling soooo clean once we had checked in and showered! We washed those clothes so much since we only had one set of warm clothes so we wore the same thing every day (damn day sack for a 6 month trip!)
