Well "By Gum" ... welcome to England
This morning we're feeling fair t'middlin having slept in until about 9am.
We had a leisurely breakfast, packed our bags again and wandered down to catch the hotel hopper bus back to the airport to pick up our hire car.
We ended up swapping our hopper bus because ours ruptured a fuel tank We were then dropped at the terminal to catch a courtesy vehicle back to Hertz only to find that the Hertz rental building was basically across the road from our hotel from the previous night. All in all it took about an hour and cost us another $8 pounds ... oh well .. you live and learn!
We decided to upgrade our original choice of car to one that had satelite navigation built into it ... unfortunately we had to go from a Honda Jazz to an Audi A4 Turbo Diesel ... poor us
So with car and navigation under control we headed over to Snaresbrook for the night to catch up with some other good friends Damian and Pauline and the kids.
DJ threw a couple of roasts onto the weber and cooked a scrummy meal and we helped demolish a few of the bottles of wine left over from their wedding 2 weeks ago. It was quite a strange experience walking down an english street whilst being greeted by the smell of heat beads on a webber ... obviously an Australian HAD to live in the street!!
So having seen their beautiful new house, their awesome wedding photos and drunk a couple of bottles of their wine, the terrible 4 of Jen, Pete, Jacq & Richie walked back to our Inn Keepers Lodge and crashed.
All in all for the robinsons, it was pretty much another wasted day of travel.
(Mind you we did manage to spend a few peaceful hours having a fantastic indian curry with a couple of glasses of wine in the pub attached to the Inn Keepers Lodge, playing spot the english person ... they are fairly few and far between in London )
For Pete & Jen however, it was a day of adventure in London.
For anyone that has been to London, I'm sure you'll remember how exciting it is to actually see for yourself things you have only ever read about or seen on television. Seeing Lizies house (buckingham palace), Big Ben, catching a boat up the Thames and seeing your first double decker red bus is just so much fun ... and for those of you that haven't done it yet ... DO IT.
Well tomorrow we finally seperate and all go our own way It will be weird not to have Jen & Pete around. It looks like they will be in London for Pedros 40th birthday rather than in the air on their round the world trip back home, which is good in some respects, but I know they are desperate to get back home to see the kidlies.
Well thats it for now ... tomorrow will be the big adventure down to Paignton.
