Where back!!!!
Holy moly! Can not believe we have been off the grid since the 13th of September! No blogs for a month, well its time for an update! Time flys when your having fun!
We had such low expectations for South Hedland and figured we'd just 'do the time' (yes, that's a jail reference)! But we were pleasantly surprised that we Love it here! It feels so much like our home in Gosnells! And going to the shops here, feels like your going to Maddington! And after living in the ghetto for 5 years we have already learnt some unwritten rules! Do not look in certain peoples direction...under any circumstances, no matter what strange things there doing or even if there asking for something 'no eye contact'!
Do not leave things out the front, unchained that you don't want to be taken But we always used that to our advantage, for example, we had an obviously broken tv that would not fit in a bin, what to do next... Leave it unchained out the front! Gone in 5 mins! But if under unusual circumstances and the item hasn't left the yard yet, have no fear! Put a price sign on it and it will disappear in double time! Therefore lesson number two 'stealing'!
Rohy gave us the tour! Shops are open 7 days a week/until 6 or 7 at night which I'm thrilled about!!!! And have missed Coles so much since being deprived of it for a month!!! I could spend hours wandering up and down the aisles of Coles imagining making different things....... Then going through the self serve, shopping doesn't get better then that for me! :)
So, can you believe it... Our plans changed again! Haha we never ended up going backwards, Rohy would have had to send us all out, kicking and screaming! haha Running water, Electricity on demand, air con, a oven, people to talk to!!! Although I miss our quality time, so much! It didn't matter that we were knee deep in sand and facing natures harshest elements everyday, we still got to spend all of it together! Cliche I know BUT cliche for a reason ;)
So anyway, here's the update - I guess I did drive Dan totally up the wall because he managed to score a 4 weeks on and 1 week off roster, for a 2 month contract...or at least that's what he said haha it does seem a little dodgy that he had to go to Perth before he started, maybe he's in Bali???? Noooooooo, not true, he sent a picture of him working hard building a railway 20mins out of Karajini! So he's doing a fabulous job!
Meanwhile, back in the Ol'South of Hedland we are spending some time with Rohy!!!! (before I know it she will be accepting a 4 and 1 job to)!!!! ;) Doing lots of baking up here....and then sending off the goods with Rohy to work, so we can make more cakes!
Xanders been a great help making the cakes! He's also got a friend up here named Phoebe, who likes to play dress ups (somehow Xandys always the one wearing the fairy costume)! But it's super Dooper cute and if we team the out fit with his spidy man costumes, he's invincible!!!!!! He's still loves his cars and is also now playing with play doh (Tay-to) and when he's done and it's been left out to long and crumbles under the air con... It can be as bad as stepping on one of these quality prickles Rohy grows in her luscious brown desert, otherwise known as the backyard :)
So, we have also started studying as well, Dans doing OH&S and Project Management and I'm doing counseling. We both have been wanting to study for awhile now and we finally felt up to the challenge! So, while Dans studying away onsite, and safety 'SAM'ing everything & everyone while he's working, I'm having discussions with Xander about his feelings, while his concentrating on playing cars! Haha
Anyway, more on the big Hedland!!!! It's always above 35 degrees everyday, which is hot but beautiful!!!! We are really looking forward to cyclone season!!!!! And the cyclone party's! We have some shops over on the south side, Kmart, Coles, Liquorland, Maccas, Subway, Retravision... We have never seen such big lines! If you are buying booze, cigarettes, something from Brumbys or even picking up a parcel from the post office, at the wrong time.... You are going to cue up like waiting for entry at a night club!!!! Haha
We had our first visitors!!! Liz & Geoff visited, so we showed them the town! On the last night of them here, we went to buffet style Chinese for tea! This place can be a bit of a death trap but a little bit of food poisonings good for you! Or us, because we get to keep our visitors for longer mwahaha *evil cackly laugh* but it didnt work and they left in good health today to enjoy their own adventure, yes....I surrended their car key and pumped back up their tyres haha......
warning - I'm only joking please don't let this deter you as a visitor!!! Hahaha
So it's Dans birthday on Tuesday And where hoping he can get a ride back to town for his roster day off!!! As we haven't seen him for 2 weeks, where so so so excited!!!!!!!
So that's the news!!! Other then all the above it's business as usual!
