Rich Round The World
Hi everybody!
Well i made it over the border into China not a problem. Its quite a culture shock when you first arrive as now everything is written in chinese characters and next to nobody speaks english. I made it across the border to a nearby town to get the train to Nanning.I borded the huge double decker train and it took about 5 hours to reach Nanning. Nanning is the capital Guanxi province and is huge. It is not a tourist city and me and a brazilian guy who ive been travelling with saw no other westerners there! The city was was full of high rise skyscrapers and it was a big difference to the cities of Vietnam.
One night was enough in Nanning so got the train again to Guilin, about 5 hours away. Transport seems very reliable and the chinese have very good train and bus networks but the problem is trying to tell people where you want to go and when. At Guilin got straight onto a bus to the tourist town of Yangshuo. Ive been here for the past few days and its amazing! This small town is surrounded by mountains and beautiful scenery. Its basically like Halong Bay in Vietnam but without the water. Ive spend the last two days mountainbiking round small trails in the countryside.
Yesterday was very interesting as we stumbled upon a small house in the middle of nowhere and they were having a big party.Everyone was wearing white towels on their heads with a red dot on top. We were invited inside to the home when we realised that it was in fact a funeral for their grandmother! So we thought we had better leave them and get on the bikes again. Then a few hours later still deap in the countryside i got a flat tire. Was asking around many villages if they could fix it but everyone just laughed at me! I finally found some guys who fixed it but as soon as i got back on it was flat again. So as we were so far from town i had to bike along stoney gravel paths for over two hours with this flat tire! I tell u it wasn't easy!
Thinking of leaving town tommorrow and either go to Hong Kong or somewhere nearby. Photos will be coming soon!

ps. on my last night in Hanoi i went to eat snake! It was a bit sick as i saw them killing the snake in front of me and pouring its blood into a glass for us to drink. I felt sorry for the poor snake! There i tried snake wine, snake blood wine, snake bowel wine and a variety of snake dishes. Snake is quite tasty( its a bit like chicken!) . Have photos so they will be on here soon!
