Today woke up early to go on a tour of the Ballestas Island. Really awesome island. So much wildlife in one small area.
We seen sealions that were fighting and roaring at each other. Humboldt penguins, pretty crabs, pelicans, Peruvian boobies and Inca Tern birds (my favourite! ).
We were taken to the area to see my first Nazca line. It looked a bit like cactus and was the size of a rugby field (50 × 100). Amazing that the wind and sea have not made it go away in thousands of years!
Also seen were they collect the Peruvian Boobies bird poo with guano in it, that they use as a fertilizer. Unfortunately observed some poachers diving for octopus and crabs around the protected islands. But all and all it was a wonderful morning and we now head of to Nazca.
