A lot of driving today - about 9 hours in total but we saw some good stuff - firstly before we left Los Angeles we drove as close to the Hollywood sign as we could and got a great view of it !
Then it was onto Route 66 but first a good few miles of freeway driving through Pasadena and Azusa to the outskirts of San bernardino and eventually onto the mother road.
Victoiaville is really where it starts called the National Trails Highway.
We passed close to Edwards airforce base which is also home to the plane storage yard in the Mohave desert then onto a place called helendale the home of the bottle tree man - loads of trees made of old bottles
We continued on through lenwood to Barstow where we stopped for lunch
Then after a detour carried on through Newberry springs stopping at the famous Bagdad Cafe and Ludlow to Amboy and Roy's Diner - still in use - had a Route 66 root beer and got some good photo's.
That's really where the trail ended so back onto the freeway and Needles then onto our stop for the night - Lake Havasu and the original London Bridge.
Total driving miles today 388
