Suzhou
The next day we went on our merry way to Suzhou, (pronounced Sue-jo), a short train ride away from Nanjing basically heading back to Shanghai. Suzhou train station was a complete nightmare like every other Chinese train station, but we managed to get back to our hostel fine. The hostel was situated in a traditional Chinese building, with thick dark brown beams and tiles roofs. However despite its old appearance was exceptionally clean and tidy.
Suzhou was merely a stop gap and so we only had half a day to wander around its streets.
Suzhou is a canal town, canals run everywhere in this no doubt once extremely picturesque city. It seems now that the city has taken over Suzhou and made the canals look dirty. However despite this, the place still look nice and some good photos were taken.
Suzhou is also known for its beautiful gardens and so me and phil made our way to the closest garden we could find, 'The Humble Administrators Garden'. It really was a great tranquil garden and we spent almost the rest of the day wondering around.
