Finally on our way, and starting with a few days in Perth before we fly out was a great idea.
Having not been to Perth for more years than I can remember, it was certainly not the same as it was when I was here last. The city has a vibrancy and innovative feel about it, with fantastic architecture and art works at every turn. And with half the number of people as Melbourne, it was a real pleasure to be able to wander without the crowds, although with a free public bus system around the central areas of Perth and Fremantle, there wasn’t really much need to wander.
A very pleasant afternoon was had when we took a small electric solar powered ferry up the Swan River, no noise or fumes, just drifting along with the current.
The next day we went over to Fremantle and spent another great day there, just doing not much at all other than soaking up the sun and the laid back life style. A stroll through the Shipwreck Museum and the Food markets and it was time to head on back to Perth.
Sadly I sense that this may be the last run of lazy days for a while as we head for a week in Malta.
