A warm, almost hot day in this beautifully located city in South Tirol.
Pleasantly not as crowded as Munich or Barcelona it has all the makings of a couple of stress free days. Certainly not as crowded as it was when we were here last in the winter of 1985 on a skiing holiday.
With enough time to squeeze in a couple of hours before dark, we did the sights and the old town, at least all those we wanted to see.
Day 2 and the sun was out and as you would have seen from the fb photos, we spent most of the day in the mountains. We were certainly lucky with the weather that day.
Day 3 and being Sunday, all the shops in Austria are closed save for a few cafes, so we took the local bus to Hall in Tirol, a small medieval town not far from Innsbrucken established in the early 13th century. It was a major producer of salt, a valuable commodity at that time. After a easy stroll through the narrow streets etc, we found a small cafe with tables under the trees, a perfect way to finish off the day.
Tomorrow, it’s on the train & bus to our next stop, Ortesei in Italy.
