Mendoza is right over on the other side fof Argentina from Buenos Aires so we set off in the evening on the overnight bus and arrived at our hostel bright and early in the morning. The first thing that hit us is that Mendoza is hot! Very hot! It is the first place we have been in South America where they have a Siesta, and you can see why!
Mendoza is Argentina´s wine capital, it has lovely wide streets with trees and green everywhere, it feel completely safe and the people are very friendly, the whole place feels very relaxed. They also have 2 of our favorite pass times... Wine and skiing- happy days. Unfortunatelty we were a month out for the skiing this time, although the mountains that surround Mendoza were all snow capped- a fantastic setting.
We spent 3 days there, 2 of them relaxing in and around Mendoza including a lovely park and the other day riding around the wineries. We had a fantastic day going in a tasting wine, looking around the museum and having lunch in an olive grove (see the pictures). The bikes left a little t be desired though, my back wheel was so off centre it hit the frame every time it went around... we cycled 15km! However after a few glasses of Malbec it seemed to go away!
Next we are off back to Santiago... we have loved everything about Argentina, The places, the sights, the poeple, atmosphere, wine and the best steak in the world... we are sad to be moving on.
Anyway until next time, have a good day.
