Seems a long time since our last entry!
Finally arrived in Australia on 29th November! Very hot and sunny at least to start with.....
Have been spending a few days in Jolimont, just outside Perth with Richard's brother Andy and family Ann, Issy and Tom.
City beach is fantastic although v windy and all of Australia seem to be doing some kind of outdoor exercise programmes - definitely a start early and finish early culture not much open late. Had a lovely meal at a restaurant overlooking s favourite surfing spot of Andy's.
Following day take a train over to Freemantle where we visited the maritime museum and the Endeavour, swiftly followed by s trip to Freemantle prison - but not for long. Later that evening went up to Tom's school to see him in the bi-annual end of the year play - Jackie and the Beatstalk... Weird but v enjoyable.
Next day an early start as we go to the airport with Andy (5.30 get up time) pick up our hire car and head down to the Margaret river - just a few wrong turns and a 70 km detour later and we arrive - lovely spot right in the woods among the birds.
Spent the next couple of days out walking around the trails and sampling the local wines - bliss.
Weather has now turned and gone a bit stormy, just as we head down to Denmark to stay at 'Sensational heights' for a couple of nights and it really is a fantastic setting high up on the hill. During the journey down we see several areas where the recent fires have caused damage but fortunately not where we are staying.
Have a Lovely supper of shark and chips and head on back to the B and B.
Next day we get up early and head to the valley of the giants to do the treetop walk - fantastic views above the trees - actually swaying quite a lot in the wind. It is blistering hot and we decide that the next stop would be the Welcome Bay for a paddle.
Thunder and lightening strike tonight and we decide to get a take way tea of Chinese before heading back to the centre of Perth tomorrow.
