Day 34 - Kunming: City
Today we had a late start, at 11am we left the hotel on foot and walked the streets of Kunming with our Mandarin map!! We found the Dong Feng Square where people go in the mornings to dance and do exercises in particular tai-chi and badminton, but the square was empty because it was midday. We then walked in search for the Bird and Flower Market on the way we were given a brochure for a restaurant that had a really nice picture of lasagna on it. We followed the girl to the restaurant and were given our menus only to discover that they were only in Chinese! We pointed to the lasagna on the pamphlet and were told that they don't have any it was only a picture! How rude! Luckily Dad had his trusty Mandarin book with some of our favourite foods marked in it, from that he ordered us some lunch. The food was quite good and the service was outstanding, Dad dropped his chop-stick in his lap and within 10 seconds the lady had brought him a clean pair! Mum was drinking Jasmine tea and her cup never got less than half empty cause another lady kept refilling it sometimes as soon as mum's hand let go of the cup! Mum tried to be sneaky, but that didn't work, so she tried to drink lots of tea (but she paid for that later in the afternoon when we couldn't find any toilets)!!
