Day 33 - Kunming: Stone Forest
We arrived in Kunming at 8am, our tour guide Johnson took us to our hotel for breakfast. After breakfast we took an hour's drive to the Stone Forest. Apparently this Stone Forest was once a coral reef under the sea thousands of centuries ago. The tall walls of stone have since been shaped by the elements (wind and rain). They are quite impressive and form a labyrinth for tourists to wander. We were lucky that Johnson let us have 2 hours free time to explore the Stone Forest. There were many vendors lending out traditional costumes for tourists to wear and take pictures. I was lucky enough to have my photo taken with a pretty maiden, unfortunately Dad was in the picture too! Johnson then took us to lunch which was the worst lunch we have had on our tour days. We were offered roast duck which was really fatty, a whole fish with thousands of bones, dry pork ribs and funny tasting rice. We didn't each much. We were dropped off at the hotel mid afternoon and had a nap and a shower before going to the hotels Revolving Restaurant. Mum, Dad, Uncle Scotty and Aunty Jess spent ages trying to work out how long it took the restaurant to revolve 360 degrees. After a lot of counting, time trails and calculations they finally agreed that it took 3hrs 20mins to complete its 360 degrees. After dinner Mission Impossible 2 was on TV, Mum said we could stay up and watch it as it was in English.
