Day 23 - Beijing: Bird's Nest & Water Cube
This morning we packed our bags as we'll be on our way to Xi'an this evening - I am really excited about going to see the Terracotta warriors.
Once we'd checked in our luggage with the friendly concierge it was on the subway to see the National Stadium and Water cube. These stadiums were used in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and it was exciting to see them after seeing them on TV. Dad and I had a race to get from the train to the stadium first - I won and Mum said I had won gold for Australia!
The National Stadium is called the Bird's Nest because of its very interesting architecture - it is an impressive building . After visiting the stadiums we found a great Japanese café to have a coffee - and ended up eating dinner too. We had fried chicken wings and dumplings and French fries - Yum!
Now we are back at the hotel and will soon go to the train station to for our first overnight train to Xi'an.
