Well, slowly body clock is correcting. Woke up at 4am instead of 2am. Had coffee, did some day tour research for when we get back to Paris and planned the day. Max and I went for a walk around 8am to find a laundromat. Saw many restaurants on the way which should be open for lunch and a gorgeous roadside fruit and veg stand - must go back there later to get some fruit.
Turns out the place we found thinking it was a laundromat is actually a dry cleaner. So, search is on again for a laundromat. Found one, a couple of km's away. Think we know where we are going.
First, we had to go back to the shopping mall so Connor could buy the watch he found and just 'had to have'. Found a place where they serve decent coffee in the mall however, the flat white comes in what you could only call a 'bucket'. It was huge. More like a soup mug!!
Then back to the hotel, the boys weren't hungry yet so off we toddled to get this laundry done. We found it - hooray. Another cute little spot (there are so many here). Finally deciphered the French instructions only to realise we didn't have detergent. I convinced Max that we should just head up the road about, there is bound to be a shop/supermarket. There was a little corner deli/shop just up the road. Very tiny but it had what we wanted. Back to the laundromat and washing underway. The coin slot wasn't working but that was fine as it was taking notes. Didn't even consider that we might need the coin slot to use the dryer. Loaded everything into the dryer and the machine wouldn't take our notes. In walks a man and he did not speak English but we indicated that we were wanting to use the dryer. He was the maintenance man and was able to open up the panel and get the dryer working for us - no charge.
Oh, and while we were waiting for the washing to finish, a man walked past with a beautiful and very big Newfoundland. He must have wondered what was going on, this crazy woman speaking bad French asking to pat the dog. At first he went to hand the lead over to me - what the? Then he indicated he was French and I said Australian. Best mates now :)
Washing done, back to hotel via the shopping mall again (of course). Well, I did have to go to the loo, then stop at Esprit to buy an article of clothing that I like on Saturday but was still so bloated with fluid from the plane trip that I refused to buy it. Then I saw this other shop which had some amazing and bizarre things in it. Max was getting a tad annoyed by this stage - well, he was carrying a bag full of washing!!
Back to hotel now and round the boys up for some lunch. Found a fabulous little cafe and a lady that spoke very good English. She taught us (me) some more words.
Relaxing in room now. The meet and greet for the Western Front Tour is tonight. Bus trek around Paris to see the sights happens tomorrow morning and the afternoon is free - we will need it to pack up the boys and their room!!!
