Well, just had breakfast and it turns out I am not the only one feeling like an Oompa Loompa. Many are avoiding the breads today. Finally, a nice coffee (the French have dreadful coffee).
Back in room briefly before heading out for the morning walking tour of the town. Is quite amazing that after the War there was absolutely nothing left of the town except the skeleton of what is called The Cloth Hall. They have painstakingly rebuilt it exactly as it was before it was obliterated.
Still have to update some things from previous days and we have the afternoon free so will attempt that today.
Went to the Ramparts Cemetery and it was just beautiful. Quite emotional and I wasn't the only one with tears. They are cared for lovingly. Made our way around the city. The Mennin Gate is quite overwhelming with all of the names of men whose bodies have not yet been found.
Once the morning walk/tour ended we all went off and did our own thing. Connor just wanted to get back to the room and watch tv. Liam, Max and I went to a pizzeria for lunch. Great pizza washed down with a really nice beer. Liam googled the drinking age in Belgium laws last night and they are the same as France. So he also enjoyed a beer.
We regrouped at The Cloth Hall which is now a museum. After that it was more free time then at 8pm we went to the Mennin Gate for the Last Post ceremony which happens every night, no matter the weather.
Most of us went for beer after that at The Wipers Times Inn and then back to the hotel for - more beer. We left arnd 10:30pm and they were still going. Could be some sore heads in the morning and we have a coach trip today. Just hope no one barfs!
