Whenever I come to write these things, I always forget everything I wanted to say. Throughout the day I'm usually like OH YEAH! I can TOTALLY write this in the blog when I get home, but I never seem to remember the important things. I feel like this is one of those days where I've forgotten Everything that's important that I was going to say. But I will try to remember what it is I was going to put in here. (I can't even remember what I did yesterday)
Or in fact if I wrote a blog yesterday...did I? Um no. I don't think I did.
SO yesterday I was Going to go into Auckland and be superawesome and do tons of awesome research and just generally be awesome. But typical me overslept (and didn't really care) and took my time doing things, so didn't make the bus, and then we tried to find another bus and it was THE MOST CONFUSED I'VE BEEN SINCE BEING HERE.
Note: Do not look at New Zealand transport times on the internet. It will just confuse you.
As it was a spectacularly lovely day yesterday, I thought I may as well do something as I was dressed. So I decided to have a walk around Gulf Harbour (which is technically where I'm staying, but it's in Whangaparoa) so had about 3 hours in the sun which was nice :) mostly walking around, but I stopped off to pick up a croissant on my way down to the marina which was a nice walk if not a bit long. And then sat under a tree down by the sea for a while and read my book, which was lovely! And the sun was shining all the time. I sauntered down to the small beach, which turned out to be just a shore of crushed shells. I can honestly say I haven't seen a beaches like New Zealand shell beaches.
And as a hilarious aside, I don't think I mentioned it in my last blog, but they totally call flip-flops 'jandles'. It makes me chuckle! :D
So anyway, after coming back from my walk, which left me a bit worn out, I just sat in the living room and Mimi the cat came and slept on me, and we just had a nice relaxing lieabout really. But then me Phil and Emma went out for a coffee at Whangaparoa Shopping Centre, where Emma slammed the car door on her finger. But I didn't notice until half way through the drinks Emma was like OW my finger is MASSIVE. And it truly was. In fact, so much so that we went to the pharmacy, and they told her to go to A & E. So we did!
We went to a local medical centre which had an X-Ray room, and theatre rooms and things. And Emma saw the nurse, doctor, x-ray person, and then doctor again, but we were only there for an hour. Which was fairly good! But they had to pay, which isn't so.
But anyway, we came home and then went out to the pub quiz which was really fun! :)
A local guy called Michael who had been to the quiz night before, but on his own came and joined us. He had moved from Queen's Street in Auckland out to Gulf Harbour, but all his friends still live in Auckland, so we became his friends for the night! I was well impressed with some of the answers that we got right! mallus domesticus is Totally an apple tree! (good deduction skills on our part) But overall a really entertaining evening, even if it ended with Michael promising to tell his mom that he met someone who'd dated Prince Harry. If only! :D
Today I got the bus into Auckland, it took about an hour, and the bus was REALLY crowded (which supposedly was fairly unusual) but it was okay, I got off a couple of streets early so I could see if I could remember where things were, and once I found Queen's Street I was fine! I stayed at the library for a bit today, but my laptop and Auckland Library Wireless don't like to communicate, so that was a bit annoying! Though I found a Million scores that could be useful. I think tomorrow I'm going to go to Auckland Uni library and do some things there.
Should be fun times!
I really can't wait to get to Queenstown next week, and also Wellington and Rotorua in a couple of weeks! I really just want to get out and see some of what New Zealand landscapes have to offer! That's why I'm looking forward to the overland train too! Though once I get to Wellington, it'll mean that it's my last week here :(
Right, I suppose it's bed time if I want to get to sleep and get up earlier tomorrow! (Might even make the express bus tomorrow shock horror!) xxxxx
