Day 2 ... highlights the London Zoo & a wonderful supper
... this was Sabine's day to shape - of course she was more than thrilled to be first!
Our first night at the hotel she gave each of us a piece of paper and announced that we were to write down what we wanted to see and do while in London and then we'd shape our time from there ... to be fair ... [gee, I now wonder if my Beanie is going to be a politician ].
So our day started somewhat late, still being slightly behind in our time zone adjustment, we made our way to the London Zoo. We arrived around 12h30 and spent about 45 minutes in line ... we could have "fast tracked" if I had a SmartPhone to upload our barcoded tickets to, but alas ... iPhone snitched. It was a bit of a scorcher today at 34 degrees Celcius, but that didn't stop us from logging a lot of walking miles we walked steadily for about 5 hours. Favourite part of the zoo ...
- for me: the male lion roaring at supper time ... insanely loud and excitingly frightening
,
- for Sabine: the crazy monkeys jumping from bush to bush.
We decided today to take the bus lines to navigate through the city so we could see more of the sights ... went down the famous Baker Street and glimpsed Sherlock Holmes's residence. Hope to make my way back to go through the Sherlock Holmes museum but highly unlikely ... so much to do and see and hard to prioritize .
On with the blog ... having worked up quite the appetite we headed back toward our hotel for supper and decided to pop into a lovely restaurant "Island Grill" that we had the fortune of eating at on Day 1 - today's photo is Sabine and I after our crazy zoo-trekking day ... surprisingly we felt quite energized after a loooooong day.
After supper we decided to stroll through the Kensington and Paddington areas of London to scope out some tourist-y souveniers and find a place for Day 3's supper. We ended up spying a quaint, authentic Italian restaurant that we intend to return to [with a 20% discount card as incentive to return ... score ] tomorrow evening.
