Dumelang!!
Well, I had a month back in Gabs, (just 10 days for Isaac) and 6 weeks for Jess and dad before we went our separate ways. Me back to Oz, Jess to India, Isaac to NYC and dad to Brum... What did we do during that time? Well, to be honest, it was not really a holiday of activity - a consequence of te 40+ celcius heat.... thankfully falling to 30 by midnight. We spent a great deal of time catching up with old friends, friends who are old, and friends who are now old enough to have youngs ones running around. We met up with a lot of mum's friends as well. The main reason for the trip was to scatter mum's ashes over the gold course, which we were able to. We chose a lovely place, with water, bunkers, and mown lawns.
Gabs itself remains unchanged from the last time I was there 4 years ago. The main differences were that there were more buildings, and more people that we didn't recognise.. Other than, almost literally, nothing else had changed... The only place for a drink at night remains the Bull and Bush, and the same kind of clientele still frequent it. But it is still a good place to meet up with friends, and bump into people you didn't know were in town... And the drinks are still fairly cheap and with the weather being very hot, there were a few blank hours for many a person many a night - hem hem!
We also found time for a couple of game drives, and were lucky enough to see some baby ostriches, which I have never seen before.
Not the most exciting of entries, but then it wasn;t that kind of trip - it was a means for us to see old friends, and for friends to see us, and for all of us to have a good chin wag about, and a few (read many) glasses of wine, for mum.
