Welcome to my blog! Yaaaaaay!
Before things kick of properly, I thought it would be good to share a bit about me and my Journey so far...the best way to do this I think is to copy and paste directly from my fundraising leaflet! (I'm not normally lazy!)
"Hi, my name is Reece Crawford and I live in Conwy, North Wales. I am currently in my second year of studying Creative Media Production at Coleg Llandrillo and enjoy it thoroughly!
I like to fill my spare time with many varied activities and rarely stop. I highly enjoy outdoor activities like walking, climbing, wild swimming and jogging to name a few. I regularly go camping and recently completed an expedition to Holland. I am a keen skier and scuba diver and I'm qualified in both.
One of things I particularly enjoy doing in my spare time is volunteer work for TVConwy. I am frequently involved in filming on location, editing, website design and presenting with the local TV channel!
As far back as I remember I've always wanted to take a year out. I remember when I was young, my dad and his friends would tell me of their amazing gap year memories and experiences. They told me how you learn so much and develop as a person. Originally I was going to do the whole year independently and move around the globe, I wanted to do a ski season and work at Camp America but that soon changed. Last year I heard that a couple of my friends were taking a year out with a charity called "Project Trust". I helped them fundraise and heard them talk about the charity all the time, and that's when I got thinking.
At the end of summer 2013 I travelled all the way up to the Isle of Coll in Scotland to take part in a selection course. From teaching to walking, the selection process involves many different ways of showing Project Trust who I am. I then had to wait a very long week to find out if I got in.
When I eventually got my letter I opened it to find that I had been selected to go to China! And so my real journey begins…a journey of excitement and fundraising!"
Well that was all a bit serious…I don't normally do serious, only when I really need to be, like the time I acquired a nun and a bus (Not pretty) but that's a story for another day!
Well I have successfully completed my first post without getting myself arrested, shot or abducted…always a good start! But let's not tempt fate, I will speak to you all very soon and bring you more on my big adventure!
Peace out, Reece!
