The salt flat tour- we booked this in La Paz on advice that all the agencies in uyuni were in cahoots to rip you off! We paid a fair bit extra to ensure that our lodges had hot water and heating as we had heard that the tour was particularly cold at night.
The first day was spent just on the flats, taking photos of crazy perspectives and finishing with champagne at sunset. Our lodge that night was a lovely little lodge made solely out of rocks, heating and hot water were largely non existent though!
The next day seemed to just be a lot of driving in the 4 x 4- we saw the occasional indigenous village but nothing mind blowing- went to a little island full of cactii and then to our next lodge which was far more rudimentary than the last one and freezing!! So much for paying for heating!
On the last day we had to get up at 4 to go and see the geysers in the park, smoking sulphurous holes in the ground, but the best bit was getting to swim in the hot springs- they were like a deliciously hot bath! After that we saw a beautiful green lagoon then went to cross the border into chile!
