After copacabana we went to la Paz, capital of Bolivia.
It was a pretty interesting journey, in order to cross lake titicaca they emptied us all onto speed boats and then put our entire coach on a motorised raft- there were a lot of anxious faces watching the coach's route to check it didn't sink and take all our bags with it!
La Paz was an interesting city, big and buzzing ad very hilly, and unfortunately smelling strongly of urine a lot of the time! I picked Katie young up from te airport early on so our group has swollen to three! The altitude really hit me in la Paz and made my chest infection much worse but all was ok as you can stroll into any south American pharmacy and ask for almost anything without a prescription, so securing antibiotics wasn't too difficult!
We did a lot of alpaca shopping in la Paz and armed ourselves to the teeth with cost jumpers, socks, scarves and gloves all for such a minimal amount it was fantastic!
Keo went on a bike ride down 'death road' which Katie and I decide to refrain from, fortunately she survived and got the t shirt! If also a sore bottom and hands from gripping the brakes so hard!
On the Sunday we went to see cholitas wrestling. Cholita is the name of the traditional skirt that women wear in Peru and Bolivia, coupled with their long black plaits and small top hats. The wrestling was quite funny if a little ridiculous, but did get a bit out of hand when one poor lady had to be carried off with concussion!
We stayed in La paz relaxing for an extra night because I was feeling poorly but then headed on a very comfy night bus to Potosi- highest city in the world, oh dear!
