We got to the airport at around 6.30pm, our flight scheduled to leave at 8pm. Our guide Holly rushed us straight to the check in line which really didn't impress Karron because she wanted to put on her jeans before getting on to the plane. In the end, she was scrabbling around getting them out of her bag whilst in the check in que.
As it turned out, the flight was delayed by over an hour so there really wasn't ever any need to rush.
We landed at just gone 11 and met our new guide Zoe at the airport. She is younger than the other guides we've had and her English is excellent. As soon as we got out of the airport we could feel the tropical heat. Palm trees lined the road and the air was noticeably warmer. It took us about 45 minutes to get to the hotel.
The Guilin Bravo
For room quality, I thought it would be very difficult to top the Bell Tower in Xi'an. Think again buster!
As we were making our way to our room (708) I spotted a sign that said 'To the Grand Wing', it looked promising. Then, as soon as we got out of the lift on our floor and started walking across the landing we could tell it was a little different, the carpet was SO soft and deep.
With a wave of the key card somewhere near the lock, we opened the door and walked in. POW, a 10 ft long corridor opened up in to our huge room. The bed is seriously massive and very inviting and the lounge area has a glass covered desk and executive chair that matches the corner suite and coffee table. My first words to Karron, "blimey darling, we've hit the jackpot with this one!"
In to the bathroom and it's the same story, a corner power shower big enough for two, a modern and impressive looking sink area that lights up like Blackpool illuminations and a giant bath if we get the urge to have a relaxing dip. All finished with top quality gold taps.
It might be late and we might be tired but Guilin is already looking pretty good to us both.
