I have learned that the people of Queensland don't believe in street signs. I am not sure how they know what highway or street they are on because you can go miles before you end up with any clue where you are at. Once Nancy and I were on a highway and suddenly we dead ended at an airport. There was no airport on the map. Even Google map doesn't show or list some streets. And it is not just in one city. It has been like this since the Gold Coast where apparently they took down street signs down town due to construction. *sigh* Even without street signs we successfully arrived at our next backpackers place, The Rockhampton Backpackers Hostel. Easy to remember. This hostel is located two block of the main city drag but feels like you are in the outback. Plenty of wildlife about the area, an outdoor reception desk and even dogs meandering the area really helps to create the illusion of being far outside the city. It is too bad we will be back on the road tomorrow leaving this quaint hostel behind.
