Tsumeb
We won’t forget Tsumeb in a hurry. Our first night in the municipal campsite (one of the greenest, most beautiful sites we’ve encountered) was sadly ruined by continuously barking dogs and worries that someone was walking around outside about to mug us!
We moved to a B&B in town to get some decent sleep then we get the worst electrical storm and rain we’ve ever encountered in our travels. The road outside was a river, good job we left the campsite! The trailer zips are now replaced and lion proof, the car is enjoying it’s new radiator gasket and Angela has overdosed on Wimpy double cheeseburgers so it’s time to move on!
Tomorrow we will head north back through Etosha, staying at Namutoni again to get an update on the resident lions. If there are no more blogs from this site (you should be so lucky!) you’ll know they still have a lion problem and our zips didn’t work properly!
From there we will go north out the park to Ruacana on the Kunene river which forms the border with Angola. We will then ask about road conditions to the west in Kaokoland, which is serious 4x4 and GPS country. Ideally we may link up with other vehicles to do the area (so we can tow them out!)
Must finish now as I need to email the mad Germans (Florian & Susie) with the specifications for our room and ensuite bathroom they promised to build for us in their home back in Germany. When we are poor after our trip they’ll be looking after us, as we can’t afford to return to the UK. Such as kind family, lovely children (please re-stock the wine cellar).
Whilst on the subject this is advance warning to all the people we’ve met on our journeys who rashly said “come and visit us sometime”, we will!!! We’ve realized that by the time the UK taxpayer has caught up with us again and we’ve paid the council tax and heating bills back home, it is cheaper to be abroad.
