I am sure that most of you will appreciate that I am not sat in the middle of the Central Kalahari uploading this blog.

In actual fact we are no longer in Botswana, we have returned to South Africa and are currently in Howick, KwaZulu Natal, catching up on paperwork and boring stuff.

The Central Kalahari was 8 days of pure magic, a place of stunning sunrises and sunsets (you may have guessed that looking at the latest photo album) and almost empty wilderness. The animals were there in force, we were lucky enough to see cheetah, caracal and lion in one memorable afternoon and had a very close night encounter with a large male lion!

Thanks are overdue to Isaac & Liesel, our farmer friends from Vryburg, for arranging the trip and providing nearly all the food and most of the booze, and to their friends Jack, Joe and Ronnie, for the endless supply of stories and jokes (none of which could be repeated in polite company!)

If time allows we will do a proper blog about the Central Kalahari that will do the place justice, right now we are a bit pushed for time trying to sort out our UK return.
