We thought Colombia would be the one boarder that we'd be getting a very through luagge search but we didn't. Very easy to cross, get a taxi to the equador exit, walk 400m to the colombia entry then get a taxi to the nearby town.
Got straight on a bus to get us to Popayan that night (8 hours), and little did we know this was going to be our worst bus ride by far. The road was so insane, there was nothing between the edge of the road and the canyon 300 metres below, with one hairpin corner after another. And our driver was completly loco (crazy), he was going so fast that it felt like we were on 2 wheels and he was passing everything in his way without slowing down and blind corners ahead. We always said, that if we felt like our lives were seriously at risk we would stop the bus. And after about 45 mings and saying f*ck' a 100 times we stoped the bus in some random village and got off. No chance in getting our money back but I didn't care.
Had a beer to stop the tears and calm down, then stood back out on the road and flagged another bus down. Thanfully, this driver was amazing.
If we had more time it would've been nice to stop in Popayan for another night as it looked like a nice town. But it was back to the bus station at 6:30am the next morning.
