Took another 2 big 12 hour bus rides with an overnight stop in Medellin (previously the drug trafficing capital of the world - not that you'd notice though). Once again, if we had more time we would've loved to stop at some of the places we past through, but we were on a mission to spend the last 2 weeks in the Carribean.
Our first day in Cartangena it pissed down, but we put our raincoats on and enjoyed exploring the romantic old town. Really pretty place with lots of colourful buildings, music & happy people.
The next day we woke up to gourgeous sunshine, and headed out to see some crazy mud volcanoe. Very weird thing, the mud is 300m deep and you have no control of your movements, which is a bit strange when you are in there with 20 or so stranges and don't know who you are touching. You give your camera to a guy for a couple of bucks, who has bout 20 other cameras dangling round his neck and he snaps away for you. There is then a lagoon you go & wash off in, & if you want you can pay one of the ladies to wash the mud off for you...mmm... no thanks.
After a couple of nights we got a bus to Santa Marta then a taxi over the hill to Taganga. Got played on the bus ride there though. Some random bus company said they were leaving right now, and offered us a few bucks discount instead of the bus we were going to catch that wasn't leaving for another hour. Got half way, and then all of a sudden the bus stopped as all these guys came running after the bus to have a argument with the driver. Next thing we know someone is grabbing our bags and taking us to another bus. We followed our bags thinking they were just swiching us onto another bus because of the argument, but no, we had to pay again. And what was meant to be a 4 hour bus ride ended up being bout 7 hours!
