After our Pantanal tour the plan was to head into Bolivia, so we got a bus to the Brazil/Boliva boarder only to find out that the boarder had been closed for the last 4 days and they weren't sure when it was opening due to riots. They were also advising against travel to the town we were heading to (santa cruz) as 16 people (no tourists though) had been shot.
Found a hotel for the night and thought about our options. Decided that it would be best to make a detour via paraguay and head to northern argentina and then see if we should go into Bolivia from there. So the next day we got back on the bus and headed to Bonito, which we'd heard from other travellers was a good stop over. And on the bus ride there we got to see a giant anteater on the side of the road, crazy looking animal. Also meet another oz/dutch couple on the bus who had the same idea.
