Verona is the home to Juliet of Romeo and Juliet fame. I took a day trip there from Venice. I liked Verona- there was a sort of festival there the day I went, So I had some pizza and gelato, and listened to an Italian band. Then I headed to Juliet's house. Such a tourist trap but I went into the museum anyway. Of course the main attraction I staring on Juliet's balcony in the small courtyard. The museum also features a bed from a 60s movie production and art based on the story. The cutest moment was when an older gentleman, for an unknown reason, decided to lead the crowd into a rendition of "glory glory hallelujah Time goes marching on!" ( forget the name- glory glory?) anyway first everyone sang in the courtyard, then he went into the museum and led everyone from the balcony! Crazy but everyone got a kick out of it and joined in!! I also visited Juliet's tomb. It looked - really old. And it was sort of defaced to- I don't understand why people have to graffiti everything!
Verona has some great squares with beautiful architecture and a couple towers. There is also a medieval castle, which now houses a museum. Behind it is a matching bridge that had to be rebuilt after it was bombed in WW2.
I quite enjoyed the city- perfect for a day trip.
