I did a day trip to Pisa. It is pretty big, and pretty dirty lol. You take a straight shot down from the train station, cross the river and boom- 4 sights, 1 square. It's quite convenient, all of Pisa's sights in a row lol.
The leaning tower. Wow it doesn't disappoint. All of the buildings, including the tower, are made of a really nice white marble or limestone? Anyway it costs 15 euros to go up. But you gotta do it. The first level is half way up, and as you walk around you can totally tell it's leaning. So surreal. At the top are some bells and a great (leaning) view of Pisa and the other sights. And wow so many people do the "I'm holding the leaning tower up!!" picture so I had to do it too lol. It worked out alright.. It's always hard taking pics by yourself, and asking random people to do it for you.
Beside the tower is the basilica. It's huge!! Nice inside... But just another church really. Finally I went to the baptism basilica. There was two levels, and some beautiful stained glass. The fact that is next to the church was very convenient for those who used it lol.
Finally there was a cemetery enclosed in the same white rock type of building. I didn't go in but I wish I had. The pricing is sort of strange- you cant see all 4 sights, only 3, or else you have to buy entry into the museums as well.
Pisa's sights are gorgeous. It's a tourist haven- so many people!!! The city itself- not so much. But the gelato is amazing :)
