Big Blue Wobbly Thing That Mermaids Live In
This post is just here so you can see where the ferry arrives on the map. However, some special mention must go to the section of sea between Igoumenitsa (where the ferry makes its first stop from Bari) and Patras. Up till this point, the sea had been blessedly calm and the drowse-inducing tablets we'd procured from some backstreet pharmacy had done their job.
However, as the ferry turned South, and broadside to the swelling waves, we fought each other for toilet space in the cabin's tiny bathroom. Mmmm, bile. When there was nothing left and the sea had calmed down enough to stand upright, we ventured up on to the lonely windswept deck for some fresh sea air. We found there the figure of a Greek Orthodox priest in full traditional black robes, black hat and black beard sitting in the shallow end of the empty swimming pool facing the stubbornly non-horizontal horizon.
So we came ashore underfed, dehyrated, not a little shaky-legged and fuzzy in the head...
Yeah, that's what it looks like to us too!
