Got up nice and early this morning and headed out to Haad Rin. We thought it would be a good idea to walk again, which it turned out not to be!! The walk took us about 2 hours and it was mainly very steep uphill walks on the edge of risky roads! We were the only people that we saw walking and everybody driving past looked at us like we were nutters!! It was absolutely boiling as well.
We eventually got there and it was very different to Baan Tai. It was more commercial, quite seedy and scruffy. It looked like been abroad in Thailand's version of Magaluf! We headed to the beach which was quite big and was packed. It was a white sandy beach, but had quite a bit of litter and there were litter pickers that came round in vans every hour or so.
We got in the sea, which had very big waves! It was very shallow so we could go further out that normal. We kept getting wiped out by the waves, and Nath even lost his glasses so we had to go buy some more and I bought a Full Moon Party strap top. We had a mooch around the shops and around the area- it was far busier that Baan Tai and Tongsala. We then headed back to the beach and found a nice bar overlooking the sea and had a couple of beers and a burger and chips.
We had another mooch after this, but there wasn't really anything to see, just shops, so we got a taxi back to our hotel. We got showered and attempted to have a nap before the big party, but I couldn't sleep and Nath only got about an hour if that.
After getting ready we headed out to a restaurant that was on the Main Street near our apartment. It was 50 Bhat meals- I had sweet and sour chicken and rice, which was nice. Nath had crispy chicken with garlic and pepper sauce and rice, though the chicken wasn't crispy! Worth £1 though!
We went for a taxi to the full moon after dinner- the amount of people getting taxis there was silly- pretty much the whole island! There were people standing on the back of the taxis and more than enough people rammed inside- luckily we got in one that was quite empty at the beginning so got to sit down comfortably! Everywhere was just so rammed when we got there! We had to pay 100 Bhat each to get in. There were stalls lining the street selling food and buckets of alcohol. We got a couple of beers and headed into the madness! The beach was packed like you wouldn't believe!
The night was crazy! We sat on the beach and drank buckets, which were so strong!! The beach was lined with loads of stalls selling alcohol and different bars playing different music. We walked and danced outside of most of them! There were just crowds of people everywhere! For new year we went outside the main bit on the beach that had the countdown clock. There was a huge firework display which was the best we had ever seen!!! Happy 2015!!!
For the rest of the night we just danced and laughed and met new people. We had more buckets and I had some water ha! We also had a snack at one of the stalls. Nath had a go at fire skipping (a skipping rope that was on fire)- that was brill but like an idiot I missed filming it! We left the party at about half 5-6am and got a taxi as Nath thought it would be a good idea to watch the sunrise at a small pier near our apartment. The taxi waited for quite a while to make sure that it was full up before setting off. We were worried we would miss sunrise! We had a good chat with a guy from Bangkok in taxi. Once we got out of the taxi it was slowly getting light and we were worried that we had missed it! We grabbed a beer from our room and ran to the pier. Happy 2015!
