We got into Brisbane airport at 5.15am Australian time. It was strange as the time differences kept changing for us! We had an hour until we flew but by the time we were off the first flight and walked to the gate they were boarding. I felt pretty awake by the time we got on the next plane and couldn't sleep at all. We were so excited to get to New Zealand! We didn't get a meal on this flight which was rubbish as we were starving! It was only a 2 and a half hour flight though, but we ended up getting in earlier. We got in to Auckland airport at 11.30am NZ time, which is 13 hours ahead of the UK. Our bodies will be all messed up from all the different times since leaving Ubud! Coming in on the plane for landing was brilliant as we saw some amazing sights of New Zealand which just made us more excited!
It was very easy getting through immigration on NZ side. We had fast track lanes for British, American, Canadians and Australians. We just had to scan our passports at a machine and we were granted a 6 month visa for free. A benefit of been British for once! The machine took our picture and off we went! It was all done electronically by machines for us which was weird as we didn't have to show one person anything! They had sniffer dogs and hand baggage checking machines but it was mainly for plants and food that may be carrying any bugs and diseases so you weren't allowed to bring anything like that through. Nath got sniffed down by the dog but after that we were straight through. We got our bags straight away and went for food.
After food we got on the airport bus to town for $16 each as this was the cheapest option! We will have to get used to the money difference and prices compared to Asia. Most of the prices are very similar to home and we aren't used to that anymore!
So far New Zealand seems pretty much like home just much better looking!! Even the coins are pretty much same with the Queens head on and everything! It's started off a good day- it's pretty warm and everything has gone smoothly! Let's hope it stays that way! Let the adventure begin!
