Ok so I am SUPER behind but thats only because weve been having such an amazing time and havent been sitting around on the internet! Our last day in Dubrovnik we spent it wandering the town and walking the walls. The entire old city is surrounding by a protecting wall from many centuries ago but it actually came in handy in the early 1990s when they were under siege during the croatian revolution from yugoslavia. We also went up to the old fort above town which was also from antiquity but was used in battle in the 1990s, there are lots of huge craters in the wall from all the bombings. The land surrounding it was also covered in mines but has been cleared since then (we took the cable car, however, so we werent in any mine fields ourselves). We also went to the opld jewish temple there, it is the 2nd oldest temple in europe and I think it is still in use. Dubrovnik only has about 12 jewish families left since WWII.
I have already posted the pics from dubrovnik on facebook, I just hadnt gotten around to posting about it. All in all it was a great 3 days down there and it is so so beauitful. Despite the torretial downpour we still got a few days of total beauty!
