So much for getting my rest in... My last night in the Krabi resort (Phu Tara) I was all ready to go to sleep at around 7pm after chilling out all day when a couple of guys from Mexico and a couple of girls from the UK arrived and suggested we make a night of it. We all know I don't need much persuading in that department. We managed to find a Thai guy to give us a lift to and from Ao Nang, which is the main strip of Krabi. We stayed in a really nice bar with live music and a limbo competition! All of us entered (I sucked) and the 2 guys and one of the girls came 1st, 2nd and 3rd which meant we had 3 buckets to share between 5! A buckets consists of a small bottle of spirit, a red bull and a mixer and they are exetremely cheap to buy.
Anyway, what I'm getting at is that I surfaced at 8 with my transfer to Ko Phangan waiting for me. I gathered my stuff (which included a pair of size 10 flip flops I had gained from the night before) and had reached Phangan by 7pm that night. I chilled that evening because I had arranged for a couple of lovely girlies I had met on the train from Chiang Mai to share my bungalow until the full moon party.
Woke up ridiculusly early the following morning and walked and walked and walked for at least 2 hours right up the beach. It is beautiful. I think more so than the Phi Phi islands if it's possible. Brilliant white sandy beaches right around the island. I found a relaxing little bar to have lunch in where I met 3 lovely ladies (you know who you are!!!) and were chatting away until the sun set, when I realised I had a very long walk back. Wasn't feeling so energetic after several Chang's.
Laura and Kate were at the bungalow when I got back and we met another girl from Germany, called Viola. The 4 of us hit Haad Rin beach front (home of the Full Moon party) which is the Southern part of Phangan. Didn't know what to expect but it was heaving with tourists and party animals so we had a brilliant night. The whole length of the beach was filled with people and Thai's selling different kinds of buckets, no obviously, everyone was off their trolleys. What amazed me was the fact that they had a fire limbo, a ring of fire to jump through and a fire high jump. They wonder why there are so many casualties???? It was amusing to watch anyway. I think we strolled in at about 8am and did a whole lot of nothing the following day.
