Im in Krabi already!
I travelled 14 hours on an overnight train Chiang Mai to Bangkok on 14th, then had the day to kill in Bangkok so I climbed the Golden Mountain (a temple with about 200 steps leading up to it and a fab view of Bangkok from the top) in the morning and visited the Grand Palace for a couple of hours in the afternoon and chilled in Khoa San for the rest of the day waiting for the overnight bus to Phuket.
The bus took 12 hours to get to Surat Thani where I had to wait an hour for another bus to take me on a 4 hour drive to Phuket. When I got there and checked in, the receptionist said I was booked in for one night and catching ANOTHER bus to Krabi at 7 in the morning!!! I was too tired to be annoyed and it serves me right for not checking before hand. So I thought I needed to make the most of Phuket and that is exactly what I did. Quickly freshened up and hit the beach.
First impressions, the strip and beach front reminded me of Greece. After walking round for half an hour I realised it seemed to be mostly families on vacation and not so many backpackers. Met a guy straight away from Oz whose name is Michael. He was on holiday with family and friends and invited me for dinner with them. Michael was the only one without kids (he is about 35!) and all of them were completely bonkers but lovely people who made me very welcome. After dinner Michael and I hit the bars and picked up a few more guys along the way, so naturally, I paid for one round the whole evening. Stayed in one bar all evening which had some scarey looking women dancing around on the bar and also some very attractive women were dancing too but you just don't know... Carried on drinking until 6.30 when I realised my bus was leaving in half hour. So I tried to hurried back but got slightly sidetracked and sat down to have breakfast with 4 blatant lady-boys, very interesting individuals, and realised I was late. Ran for 5 minutes up-hill after eating, still drunk and dehydrated which equalled being even more delayed while I was slightly ill, shall we say. The driver was not impressed but, quite frankly, I didn't care I was just trying to keep my food down. So travelled a little more by bus then boat until I reached Krabi. My current location.
My resort is beautiful and very peaceful seeing as I think I am the only one staying there! It has a waterfall and fresh water pool to swim in and bedrooms are little huts which are very pretty. I figured it's a good chance to get my rest in before the full moon party next week. Yesturday was spent recovering and today I have been on a day trip around the Phi Phi islands. The islands were beautiful and the water completely clear. The only problem with the trip was that everyone else on the trip was in a couple. Not exactly what you need when you're missing your boyfriend! But I snorkelled all day and watched them all lovey dovey with eachother with a disgusted look on my face.
