Have reached Chiang Mai! Was a bit annoyed on the train coz I was sharing a carriage with families and oldies, most of which were thai! But then at the last minute 4 people walked on and sat behind me. 2 from oz and 2 from london so we stayed up drinking Thai rum till everyone else got pissed off with us and then we found out there was actually a bar 2 carriages down! We weren't too popular with other passengers.
Arrived at Chiang Mai with a stinking hangover and extremely tired but happy!
First impression were good. I thought it was stunning.
The train journey into the city for the last couple of hours was excellent. I was glad to be greeted by amazing views when I woke up, it definately eased the hangover. I could see a lot of jungle and not much civilisation at all.
It is a busy city but not even closely comparing to Bangkok, which I am glad to be miles away from. Everything up here is a lot cheaper and I definately have good feelings about being here.
I plan to go to the night market tonight and then hit The Khoa San Road of Chiang Mai which is called Mun Muang Road.
