Arrived in Brisbane Tuesday afternoon glad to be seeing a decent skyline to look at. Weather wasn't too nice and I was pretty shattered from Fraser still so I wondered around and got my barings of the city but had a chilled night in my hostel just chatting to my room mate. Woke up early the following morning and went for a run through the beautiful Botanical Gardens on the river. At the entrance to the Gardens there was a stall renting push bikes for the day so for a small fortune I rented one so I could kill two birds with one stone - see the city and get some exercise!
First stop on my mini adventure was Mt Coo-tha. I cycled 45 minutes out of the city then another 30 minutes solid up hill to the look out point. The view of Bribane was stunning and once at the top I was congratulated by a group of old dears who all agreed, "ooooh, didn't she do well?" Bless them. After soaking in the views back on the bike and cycled back into town. It was a beautiful clear day and I had been given a few cycle routse around Brisbane. I decided to follow one which lead from the Botanical Gardens over Victoria Bridge, following the river all the way to the Story Bridge and over it then back down the other side of the river. This took me most of the afternoon with a trip through China Town half way through. I finally returned the bike at 4.30 and walked back to my hostel on extremely shakey legs.
After a shower and dinner I was ready for bed and walking downstairs in my hostel and who should I bump into? Sarah, Becky and Jo! Plans quickly changed from a night in to a night all out! Went to their room first to play games, which was the first night I met Rebecca, Becca and Lacey before going to the Down Under Bar which was part of our hostel. As soon as we entered we had free drinks coupons thrust at us and from then on all night people (especially the security guards) were buying us drinks, I'd never known people to be so generous! Only to find out that in fact there was a wet T-shirt competition happening that evening and they were lacking in contestants! Unfortunately for them none of us were that drunk. Back at the hostel we chilled on the roof top until early hours of the morning.
Next day was pouring with rain so it was spent in front of the TV and we left for Surfers Paradise the following afternoon, it was still raining.
