Had to wake up at 5.30 to leave surf camp by 6! Not needed after a night of stupid drinking games. Boarded onto the Oz Experience for the last time with the girls. What a sad day! We had a double seat each and slept a well needed sleep all of the nine hours to Sydney and checked into a funky but big hostel called Wake Up!
Woke up bright and early to start on the city, soon to realise the morning was going to be spent shopping for more layers. It's so cold! Headed down to the Opera house and the story bridge both made a gorgeous photo. Becca and Lacey met us in their uncles car only to drive five minutes down the road and notice that the brakes weren't working! Disaster! We left them to wait for a recovery vehicle and walked down by Circular Quays and the Harbour. A beautiful day, sunshine and pristine blue skies. Once Becca and Lacey had rejoined the group we hopped on a bus to Bondi beach. Bondi is a gorgeous beach and known for the surf there. It certainly lived up to it's reputation. As always there were some crazy cats surfing even though it was freezing cold!
That evening was the last we would be spending together. Very sad times! We spent it at the Scubar which was part of our hostel and did cheap deals and games all night.
The following morning the girls wanted to venture out of the city to Palm Beach AKA Summer Bay of Home and Away. We had to get a boat from Circular Quays to Manly Beach then a bus from Manly to Palm Beach which took over an hour! This had better be worth it! On the bus with us was a very odd chap who was lying across the back seats of the bus muttering under his breath. As we were sitting on the row in front we could hear all the delightful things he was saying. About how he had just got out of prison for assaulting a young girl and how he would do it again, why weren't we listening to him, he had met girls like us before and he would do time for girls like us!!! Scary stuff, slightly worrying that he is wondering around a free man...
Arrived at Palm Beach which was just, yet again, another beach! The girls all found it very exciting. We walked around and found some of the cast and crew filming. We sat and observed for a while and when they had finished the actor (Jeff???) came over and had a chat with us. That's the first time I have witnessed Lacey speechless! Sarah got extremely excited and high pitched.
Back at the hostel the girls packed their things and left me. I was, for the first time since I arrived in Oz, on my own again. I was not in any state to be socialising so I packed my things and headed to bed early. Not an easy task when you're sharing and ten bed dorm with nine blokes! They were all going out but playing poker first, which was fine. What wasn't fine was that I was rudely awoken at 3am by the guy sleeping in the corner bed heaving and puking all over himself, his bed and the surrounding floor space. Somehow no-one else in the dorm woke up from this! He was being so loud and after five minutes or so it started to stink the room out. Just my luck that every bed in the hostel was occupied and there was a football match on in the lounge room. Decision time: Barfing Bill or Football Fans? Footy won and I finally got to sleep at about 5:30. Luckily the cleaners woke me up at 6:50 and my bus to Melbourne was due to leave at 7!
