On Friday we headed into Melbourne, little did we know it was AFL Grand Final weekend! The final was between St. Kilda and Geelong and there was a parade through the city centre. This made getting around difficult so we decided to give in and watch the parade. We must have been the only people in the city who didn't really understand what was going on!
After the parade we went to the Queen Victoria markets. It is a massive indoor market spanning several blocks. Most of you know we like a good market and could go on about it for hours. There is everything available in the market from food to Italian leather bags. We bought some freash fruit and veg for the week. We also bought some Kangaroo burgers and two soft white rolls for our dinner.
In the afternoon the weather got worse with heavy rain. We caught a bus to the docklands area of Melbourne. This is one of the newset areas and is still under development. We had had enough of the cold and wet weather so decided to splash out on pancakes! We found a nice pancake parlour and treated ourselves to panckaes covered in rich chocolate fudge sauce, ice cream and strawberries. Yummy!
As we returned to the van we were shocked to learn that parking for the day had cost $40!
