Friday we went to Narooma, a very pretty seaside town. We arrived early and had the beach to ourselves. We then went for a shirt walk to the lookout above the harbour. It is a good place to watch whales and dolphins, but there were none about. We walked down to the harbour, where there was a seal playing dead in the entrance.
We left Narooma after lunch and stopped at Tilba. Tilba is a very small village with a population of 80. There were several art and craft shops, Rachel loved the hand carved chopping boards and bowls. We then headed back to the coast to see Camel Rock. We walked down to the beach, where we were again the only people.
The next day we went to Eden, the guide book told us wonderful things about Eden. We were slightly disappointed and much prefered Narooma. Eden used to be an important whaling station and there is a museum about a pod of killer whales who helped the locals catch Baleen whales. The pod leader 'Old Tom' would come into the bay to lead the whalers to the Baleen whale, which the pod had rounded up. When the whale was dead the pod were allowed to eat the tongue and the lips. We spent the rest of the day driving to Victoria, the place to be!
