I am now at the Stadhuset which is stockholms city hall where the noble laureates have their ceremony and dinner! I'm going on a tour so I'm sure that I will learn a lot!
The city hall is where the Nobel banquet is held every year, it is now gel in the state room which is one if the first halls that you walk into! Which has a massive organ built into the top of one wall! The top layer of the hall has windows all the way around to let in the light as originally the hall was not going to have a ceiling, however as it rains so much in Sweden the roof was necessary!
The Nobel banquet used to e held in the gold room however as there are so many people attending the banquet the gold room was not big enough to match the capacity required! The gold room is made up of 18 million mosaic pieces which cover all the walls as well as the ceiling. The gold mosaic pieces actually are made with actual 23carat gold between 2 glass tiles, as a result there is 10kg of gold spread around the room! This room has many images mosaic-ed on to the walls which represent a variety of things however I can't remember them all!
What a stunning city hall this is!
Now I'm going to go up the city hall tower!!
