Travelling in Southern Australia by car makes you aware of two things. One is that there are hundreds of wineries which equals lots of opportunities for wine tasting.
The other is that a lot of the time it feels like you should be in a horror movie, small local towns for local people and vast stretches of deserted highways for wolf creek style serial killers to lurk.
We would often go for long periods of time without seeing another car or human and it is during these time that a new road game was devised. Spot the road side fatality marker (yes here they have road side markers to indicate where car crashes have ended in death as a warning to other drivers) a sick game but quite addictively competitive.
A visit to Mclaren Vale broke up the first part of our trip to Murray Bridge where we engaged in wine, beer and olive oil tasting and of course it's just rude to try and not buy so we ended up fully stocked up for the rest of our travels.
On arriving at Murray Bridge we stared at our accommodation with trepidation as it looked pretty much like a s***hole and we wondered what the hell we had gotten ourselves in to.
Thankfully the inside was a lot nicer than first impressions and to make us feel really at home we were woken in the night by a screaming drunken couple outside in the middle of a domestic. Like being back in Long Eaton on a Saturday night.
Shared bathroom facilities were something of an experience, but the ability to be less high maintenance is something that needs working on so by the end of this travelling thing I'm sure we will have conquered it
