Good afternoon all,
Today was our free day in Germany after an amazing day in Dresden on the way to Berlin.
I'm not going to lie, I'm in love with Berlin!
It's just so gorgeous, green tree lined streets, graffiti art, markets, monuments and memorials-I've always been able to appreciate someone that can own up to their mistakes instead of pretending it never happened. Berlin is doing that in such an awesome way.
It's currently Octoberfest in Munich so although we're too far to attend, there are a few events around the city happening hence the above photo.
This morning we did a walking tour of the city with a local guide, we visited a number of governmental locations and monuments to WW2. I have to say the one I loved the most was yesterday's visit to the memorial for the Soviets. It's an amazing 12 metre high soldier carrying a child. Located in the middle of a green grassy park, with a few more symbolic statues around, this was by far my favourite scene of the trip, awe inspiring and so simple.
After our walking tour a few of us girls went shopping, another currywurst for lunch (German sausage with curry sauce, just heaven) and have just arrived back at the hostel.
Later tonight a few of the tour are going to a German bar for a stein or two, then onto a pub crawl.
The only negative I can add is its too cold!!!
And frustratingly there's no point in me purchasing winter clothes because I'm going back to Perth's summer.
Boo!!!! I want to stay!!!! Xo
