Today we got up and headed to the library to use the free internet as we needed to change some dates for the Kiwi Experience we are starting on Monday. Then we went to get some lunch before we headed to Auckland Harbour. We are doing a dolphin and whale cruise at 1.30pm. As we both have the Explore New Zealand cards we got the cruise free whereas it normally costs $150.00. Next to our boat was the Emirates Team New Zealand sailing boat that they use in the Americas Cup. We boarded the boat and received a safety briefing. After this we were good to go. The cruise was for 4 and a half hours in the Hauraki Gulf and there was no guarantees that we would see dolphins and whales but we hoped we would. The crew look out for any sign of them and follow where loads of birds are on the surface of the water. There were loads of birds up infront and this is where we saw the dolphins. It was quite hard to take photos of them. At the front of the boat there were loads of dolphins swimming along with the boat. It was amazing to actually get to see them. The weather was quite windy so the boat was swaying from side to side. We stopped for a hot drink to have a break from the rocky trip. When we were starting to move again we saw the blow hole of a whale. We tried to get up closer but it was moving away quite quickly. We did see it's tail though. We lost it after a while. We headed back to Auckland around 6.30pm. It was a really great and fun afternoon. When we got back to the hostel we were really tired. We decided to have a quiet one tonight as we wanted to get up early and sightsee tomorrow.
