Howzit?!
The last 3 weeks were amazing! I am really sad I am leaving, but now my real adventure starts. As a proper ending, I will tell my experiences of the last days.
For the first time I saw a giraffe being introduced to our farm. Think of you being very, very stressed, tired and hot. Now think of 2 (fe)males attacking you in that state, because they are in love with you.. Can you imagine? It was one crazy, hectic morning: giraffes running, kicking (and almost screaming). It gets even worse. One of the females, Camilla, already has a lover: kudu Charles. Charles did not know what to do with the situation and he stood like a complete mess, very sad.
Then, just the other day, I learned that we have a famous leopard in the house! She is the leopard from the Maybeline and Cartier commercial! Fun fact!
Actually, you learn a lot of fun facts here at Glen Afric. Did you know that gasoline is cheaper than a bottle of water here? Or that you can meisure an elephant by meisuring its foot and multiplying it by 2? And that hyenas are most of all hunters and not scavengers? They even have a higher succes rate of hunting, than lions :o!
Enough of the fun facts, I do not want your heads to explode with all the information. I also got some bad news.. Two weeks ago, I hurt my back and I was walking like an old lady.. The day before yesterday, one of the horses did not want to come with me and he bruised my little finger. Unfortunately, I was not the only one in pain. One of the meathorses was ready to go. We waved goodbye and 2 minutes later: BANG! I will never listen to fireworks the same again.
But to make sure that I won't end with a negative vibe, back to the nice news. Yesterday, we had a braai with the owners of the farm. They invited all the staff, including the volunteers. Knowing, from the first braai two weeks ago, that the food is delicious! We enjoyd, actually I enjoy too much. I always end up sick, because I eat too much. Especially Martha's desserts are good. With the braai she made brownies, cake with custard and lemon cheesecake! What else do you want?!
When you read this, I am about to go to the Kruger National Park. My days in Jo'burg were.. Not that nice, to say the least. I had a mental break down on Monday and Tuesday, the tears would not stop! Thankfully, when I finally spoke to my parents I was ok again. But to be honest, I an very glad that I am going. I will, hopefully, keep you posted on the national park. If there is wifi :)
Kisses!
