Hi everyone, hope you all had a brilliant Xmas and New Year, I wished I could have been there to spend it with you all. I have lots to tell you all but I don't want to bore you too much so i will try and keep it short and sweet.
We arrived in Sydney on 18th December and spent 10 days in Glebe which is about 20 minutes from the City Centre as all the hostel in Sydney Centre were full with it being Xmas. We met a few people at the hostel, Kate from Ireland, Sven from Germany and a couple called Emma and Matt from Cyprus (originally from England).
One of the days we headed out at around 11am for some breakfast and as the bar were not serving food till 2pm we ended up having a few beers which lead to more beers and a total day of drinking. There is a small place in Sydney called Newtown which we had heard about so we toddled off there for a drink and as we went into the first bar we realised it was Australias version of Soho (total Gay area). We were too pi55ed to go anywhere else so we stayed here for the rest of the night until we got a cab home at 2.30am. There are some pictures of us all (and our new girlfriends ha ha) on my album, take a look for a laugh!!
Xmas Eve came and we had to go out and have a festive beer or two so we went into Sydney and met Cheryl and Burt at Scruffy Murphys. There was some entertainment on which were two transexuals singing on karaoke and basically taking the pi55 out of everyone in the crowd - it was actually quite a good laugh. We then headed onto a few more bars and got home about 4am which was a bit of a blur.
Xmas Day, I was awoke with a cracking hangover and somehow managed to get up at 9.30, got myself showered and changed, santa hat on and went onto our rooftop where we were having a Xmas dinner and a few beers, or so I thought!!! Xmas dinner was Kangaroo which was a bit of a change from the Turkey I was expecting!! We had a few cocktails, pulled a few crackers and headed off to Bondi for the day. We all had red and white outfits on with our santa hats and I even made the effort and put on my red and white bikini (pictures on the album for you to all have a laugh)!! Bondi was absolutely packed with people (6,000 to be precise) and the weather was gorgeous so we were pretty happy. The only downside to Bondi was that we could not take any alcohol onto the beach as there had been a riot last year. Towards mid afternoon everyone was getting hungry and really fancied a Xmas dinner so we went onto Bondi Promenade and looked for something close to a Xmas dinner, the nearest thing we could find was a Chicken burger in McDonalds, check out the picture of me outside McDonalds on Xmas Day, total madness!!! All in all we had a real good day (apart from the beer situation). As much as I had a great time, it did not feel like Xmas at all, the ozzies don't celebrate xmas as much as we do, you are lucky to see a few decorations and maybe a xmas tree in each state if you are lucky.
Well Boxing Day came and guess what we felt the need to do...... go out and celebrate with a few beers. We went to Scruffys again and met a few girls that we had been chatting to on Xmas Eve and Cheryl and Burt came a little later on. We went to a few bars where we all got totally smashed off cocktails and shots and did the usual "dancing on the tables" act which I have plenty of pictures of on my album. Don't ask how but I even managed to get up and dance on the food desk, not mentioning that it nearly cost me getting thrown out, some things never change!! Cheryl and Burt decided to go home about 2am so myself and Mel went onto another bar down the road where we were refused entry as I (yes me Stephanie Conner) had had too much to drink......... as if I would have done that!!!! The rest of the night was a bit of a blur but I live to tell the tale!
On 28th we checked out of our hostel and checked into another hostel in Kings Cross as our hostel was full over the New Year. We had a few beers that night with our friends Paul, Mar and Kenny who had come from Surfers to spend New Year with us, typically the night lead onto an early morning party where I got home about 2pm the next day and the only reason I went home then was to get showered and changed for Cheryls birthday. We had decided to go to Bondi for a barbecue - towards the end of the day the weather was getting a little dull so we decided to go to Bondi Hotel for a meal and a few beers. We left the Hotel about 2am and went down to the beach to finish all the goon and beers we had got for the barbecue...... myself, Mel and Kenny were the last standing at 6am and decided to go home (had to get a cab as we had missed our train by only 6 hours) for some sleep, another mad night. When we got home we realised we were living in the "Red Light District" of Sydney as there were prostitutes everywhere. It was hilarious cos we got into our hostel and were telling everyone how awful it was outside and what was going on and everyone just laughed...... they obviously knew where they were living but we didnt have a clue!!!!!
Well then came New Year...... what a mad 2 days that was. Myself, Mel, Kenny, Mar, Paul, Cheryl; and Burt left for a party in the morning at a friends house in Bondi (James, a Canadian guy we had met) and when we got there the place was full of about 100 people and the party was well getting started. We all got totally wrecked and just about remembered the fireworks at 12pm which I didn't even get pictures of as I lost my camera...... I was totally gutted as we had a great view of the Harbour Bridge, Opera House and everything and the fireworks were absolutely out of this world, well worth coming all this way for. Anyway to cut a long story short we all had a wicked time, ended up going to some random persons house for another party and got home on the 2nd Jan at 8pm, certainly a New Year I will never forget.
It is now the 3rd of Jan and I am so skint that I am looking for a job to get some money together to travel down South to Melbourne. It is not so bad though as all the people I am travelling with are looking for work too as they are all skint so we will all be in the same boat!!!
