Nat's Adventures
Well most wouldn't of expected this stop around the world! A very last minute decsion. Got cheap flight from Kolkota for 11000 INR. Had a 2 day shopping spree (that we couldn't afford) in Bangkok and stayed in the luxury Narai hotel (courtesy of mum and dad) with buffet breakfast, a bath and air-con. Although we reckon the air-con had animals living in it and somehow has gave me one nasty cold! Went to the main 2 sights, a temple with the biggest lying Buddha ever and the Grand Palace, i got lots of artistic shots of palace - so will post them soon. Went on river boat without paying and took a ride on the sky train, very cool, i could float about in it all day.
Headed off to Ko Samui by bus overnight. Travel agent said it takes 12hrs but in actual fact it was more like 18!! And not one bus but 3! Treated ourselves (once again) to nice room with A/C for 800Baht, although downgraded today after a week of luxury. Staying in Our Place Bungalow right next to beach. We met up with a fellow Edinburgh lass in the local Irish bar who's also traveling through like us. We were all lucky enough to be here for the famous monthly full moon party so off we went! 9th August, speed boat across to Ko Phangan at 10pm, lucky to have life jackets i'd say. Had to wade up to your knees to get on boat - the first time i'd been in sea, not pleasant when you couldn't even see what you were standing on! Had a great first 10mins on boat then novelty wore off and everyone started gripping on to the sides to stop from yourself from jumping out of seat, felt like we hitting the seabed a one point. Although through all of this our good humour remained with a running commentary made by us Scottish lassies and the Oz blokes. Fire exits were pointed out alongwith seatbelt signs and above head oxygen masks!! It was a mad time, thousands of people across the beach, fire eaters/walkers/works, lots of dancing and alcohol in mini sand buckets.
The long and short of my part in the night is that i got lost and fell asleep on a table with lots of people sitting around it! We reckon i must have been out for 2hrs. We had agreed a meeting place if such an incident happened and we were to meet on the hour. When i woke with only my flipflops and clothes to my name at 3.50am i seen the shadow of Sarahs hair in the distance. She said she was starting to get worried but i found her eating Spring rolls!! So i don't know how concerned she really was! We tried to look for our new found friend with no avail and went back to sleep until daylight, had a swim (not a paddle or wade) out to sea to catch the last boat leaving at 7am and luckily found Melanie at boat too. Good night/morning had by all. Sarah still forgets what day it is!
Lovely beaches, bars, restaurants and clear seas would definately be coming back for a wee holiday here.
Oh and got tattoo last night, on my left wrist, not as painful as you'd think. Sarah got one too. Mum, Dad i'm sure you'll love it. x
