Landed here in Arica after a quite bizarre journey in a 'snoop dog' vehicle (as Sarah likes to describe it). The car was huge, width ways and off the ground height. Even the door locks were bizarrely big! 13soles from Tacna each.  We crossed over the Chilean border with no major problems other than when my backpack went throught he xray machine the officer took the bag to the side and asked if i had any vegetables inside it?!?!  I started laughi...

A strange little Oasis near Ica. Staying at El Barrco hostel, cheapest in town if you bargain with them. A few restaurants and plenty of other noisier hostels to choose from if you like but don´t go for a siesta in the afternoon without having lunch as there´s no chance of getting food late afternoon, so we opted for a few beers and a cigarette to stem the hunger instead. Not much happening around here other than the chance to go sand boarding/buggyin...

Crossed over to Uruguay and back via Busquebus port. Fairly expensive compared to bussing it around the coast but we have done more than our fair share of overland travelling!
